APL opposes taking Davis case to ICJ

LONDON - The chairman of Association of Pakistani Lawyers (APL), a team of Pakistani origin solicitors, barristers, and judges in the UK, has expressed his concerns over the killing of Pakistani citizens by Raymond Davis at Lahore, and said the Davis case could not go to the International Court of Justice without the consent of Pakistan. The local courts are to rule on this case if he (Davis) is not a diplomat like Dr Afia Siddiquis case which never went to the International Court of Justice despite clear conflicts, he commented. While talking to TheNation here on Wednesday, Barrister Amjad Malik argued that proposed application of the US citizen should be detested as submitting to the jurisdiction of ICJ would negate the Pakistans right to try any criminal in its court.
