PML-Q indecisive over new political strategy in PA

LAHORE The PML-Q leadership is indecisive in shaping up its new political strategy in Punjab Assembly after handing over Oppositions lead role to the PPP, as some PML-Q leaders proposed to the partys high command to back the PPP on the floor of the House for playing a strong Oppositions role, while few suggested to opt for 'wait and see policy to observe the conduct of PPP being an Opposition in the next session of the Provincial Assembly, The Nation has learnt. Sources in PML-Q privy to the developments regarding partys endeavours for shaping up a new strategy in the Provincial Assembly for playing the role of Opposition told this scribe on Wednesday that veteran political leaders in the party proposed that PPP knew the art of playing the role of Opposition, as it spent most of its time in Opposition and PML-Q keeping in view the fast approaching next budget should back the PPP on Opposition benches to keep the remaining party 'politically alive. Giving another reason to back the PPP in the Provincial Assembly, the PML-Q at the moment is facing serious internal crisis after its size cut down to 32 in the House by the Forward Bloc and they instead of devising a new strategy should supplement the voice of PPP in the Provincial Assembly in order to settle scores with PML-N. A provincial PML-Q leader, while insisting for not revealing his name told this reporter that supporting PPP would be in the benefit of the PML-Q keeping in view the current party position, as the House would portray the picture of a 'vibrant and lively Opposition with the addition of the PPP. The sources revealed the suggestions of those party leaders opposing supporting the PPP and adopting wait and see policy told that the leaders were of the view that party should at least observe the conduct of the PPP in the next session of the Provincial Assembly as real Opposition. The same leaders further suggested that they should not become party to the 'political battle between the PPP and PML-N and hasty decision regarding backing the PPP on the floor of the House would turn the PML-Q into a subservient political party to the PPP. They also proposed that 'subservient role would further 'marginalise the already marginalised political position of the PML-Q, which was facing serious internal party fighting and above the alleged involvement of Chaudhary Moonis Elahi, in the NICL scam. Chaudhary Zaheer-ud-Din, former Oposition leader was not available for comment on the issue despite repeated contacts.
