Bikers’ killing stirs up protest


OKARA - Protesters blocked the GT Road by setting fire to old tyres in the wake of deaths of three motorcyclists in a road accident near Toll Plaza.
The protests suspended vehicular movement for hours. The infuriated protesters also pelted stones at many vehicles and broke their windscreens.
Meanwhile, a lot of ambulances were also stuck. A huge contingent of police reached the site. After negotiation the protesters dispersed.. They demanded strict action against the persons involved in rash driving.
ROBBERY: Near village Khoo Sanummu Wala Mulanian, armed persons looted motorcyclists at gunpoint. Shahamand along with his friend Ayub was on his way to his office on bike (2259/OKL). Meantime, two armed persons intercepted them and snatched a cash of Rs90,000 and mobiles.
MINOR KILLED: A speeding tractor crushed a 10-year-old child to death. The resident of village 49/D, Mohammad Shafi’s son Samiullah was going home on bicycle when a speeding tractor crushed Samiullah.
 As a result, he died on the spot. The driver fled from the scene.
