SHEIKHUPURA -The district police have claimed to nab 407 anti-social elements and recovered huge quantity of sophisticated weapons, contraband, cattle heads, gold ornaments, cellphones and booty worth millions of rupees from them during a crackdown on outlaws in the district during the outgoing month of April.
DPO Afzaal Ahmad Kausar disclosed this during a press conference here on Friday.
He said that after taking the charge of his office, he observed that law and order situation in the district was not satisfactory. Therefore, he convened a meeting of his subordinates and ordered them to intensify their efforts to keep vigilant eye on the activities of miscreants in the district.
In this connection, the SHOs’ of 16 police stations started efforts and succeeded in achieving the target by arresting the culprits and seized illegal weapons from their custody.
He informed the media men that so far 407 proclaimed offenders (POs) involved in murder, dacoities, robberies, burglaries and other heinous crime had been arrested.
The DPO said that five Kalashnikovs, 119 pistols, 17 rifles, 26 guns, 8 revolvers and thousands of cartridges and bullets were recovered from their possession. He said that action against fugitives had already been taken to ascertain activities of notorious POs. Five criminal gangs consisted of more than 28 outlaws have also been busted and recovered looted goods worth Rs3.6 million from their possession, the DPO claimed.
The district police also recovered huge quantity of contraband including 30 kg of chars, 864 bottles of liquor, five drums of liquored, 320 kg of popy and 0.66 kg of heroin from their possession, he said.
