QUETTA - Two Nato tankers were set on fire in Mastung while a dead body was recovered from earthquake–hit Awaran on Saturday.
According to Levies officials, unidentified people intercepted two Nato tankers in Dasht area of Mastung at gunpoint and later set them on fire. The assailants then fled from the scene.
Levies Force and other law enforcement agencies personnel rushed to the site after the incident and cordoned off the area. No loss of life was reported in the attack. On the other hand, local administration recovered a dead body from Mashkay area of Awaran which was badly hit by earthquake on Sept 24. The body was shifted to local hospital for medico-legal formalities. However, the identification of the body is yet to be established.
3 DIE IN LASBELA ROAD CRASH: As many as three people were killed and several others injured in a road accident between two vehicles in Lasbela district of Balochistan on Saturday. According to police, the accident occurred in Winder area, some 45km away from main security checkpost where an overspeeding passenger coach collided head on with a pickup. Resultantly, three occupants in the car were killed on the spot and four others sustained wounds.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital, but the serious injured were shifted to Karachi for treatment. The deceased were identified as Haji Ali, Ghulam Hussain and Jangu Khan.
The police took the coach into custody, arrested the driver and started the investigation.
ANP WORKERS’ PROTEST
Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan protested against the failure of the government to trace the kidnapers of Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi.
ANP workers staged a demonstration outside Quetta Press Club and raised slogans against law enforcement agencies. Protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the provincial government.
Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi, who was chief of the Kasi tribe, was kidnapped from the downtown Quetta city a few weeks ago.
According to the family and party sources, kidnappers had not contacted the family for want of ransom money. No group has claimed responsibility.
However, ANP Balochistan did confirm that it is the case of kidnapping for ransom.
