Girl volunteers join fight against dengue

WAZIRABAD - A team of 30 girls students of Govt Girls Degree College for Women will create awareness among the women voluntarily about the precautionary measures to avoid dengue fever and distribute relevant literature here in Wazirabad. According to detail, Govt Girls Degree College Principal Shahida Arif following the directive of DPI Colleges will launch dengue fever awareness campaign with the help of 2500 college students. The students will distribute pamphlets and special lecture for dengue awareness among household women in the city. To expedite the campaign launched by the Punjab government, against dengue virus, Mrs Shahida Arif has formed a seven member committee of teaching staff, headed by Prof Mrs Nighat, comprising Mrs Aisha, Mrs Naz Tasneem, Mrs Shazia, Miss Muazza, Miss Faiza, Miss Lubna and Miss Pakeeza for educate the students about dengue virus. The committee has selected 5 girls to work as volunteer from each class and formed a team of 30 girls. The volunteer students were specially educated by the doctors of THQ hospital. The volunteers were educated that how to eliminate dengue virus and what are the precautionary measures to avoid dengue feve. The volunteers will go door-to door in the city and educate the masses regarding the protective measures they could follow to check the outbreak of the dengue fever. They will also distribute pamphlets and other material to create awareness. They will started campaign from the college and removed irrelevant material from the premises of the college and made their college clean and dengue free. Some contingents from health Department carried out fumigation in and around the college. The principal said that they wanted to eliminate the fear among the people about the dengue fever by launching awareness campaign in the city.
