Punjab Minister Cooperatives Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar has said that protection of life and property, provision of relief and rehabilitation of flood victims is the top priority of the government and all out resources have been utilised in this regard.
Addressing flood victims at Mouza Tayyab Baloch, Tehsil Liquatpur here, he said that elected representatives and administration were looking after flood affectees round the clock and no effort would be spared for their relief and rehabilitation. He said that the Punjab government was standing with the flood victims in this hour of trial and would remain with them till their complete rehabilitation. He said that service to the masses was pivot of his politics and he would not rest content till rehabilitation of flood affectees. He said that a comprehensive survey had been started for assessing damages caused to the crops and houses by floods and in the light of the survey, compensation would be paid to the victims.
He also stressed upon the administration and departments concerned to play their due role for the relief and rehabilitation of affectees and earn the blessings of Almighty Allah by helping marooned brothers and sisters.
Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Captain (r) Asad Ullah Khan Liaquatpur, AC Zahoor Hussain Bhutta were also present on the occasion.
While briefing the Minister, the AC told that 7,200 people including 1,500 cattle were shifted to safer places with the help Army, Rescue 1122 and other departments without any causality.
Later, the minister and Commissioner visited the relief camps and inquired about problems faced by people and issued on the spot directions for their resolution. They also visited the medical units established by District Health Department and directed the staff and doctor to ensure the provision of anti-snake and dog bite vaccine.
