He said on the occasion that such camps would be set up in other far flung localities to enable the residents to avail free treatment facilities near their homes. Rain to have good effects on cropsThe local farmers took a sigh of relief as the district received rain after two months, which would have a positive effect on wheat and gram crops. A two-month long spell of dry weather had badly affected the crops besides causing spread of diseases like flu, cold and cough. Mercury dropped and people stuck at their homes after the rain. Several bazaars in urban localities presented a ghost look as shoppers remain at homes. Traders belonging to rural localities did not turn up to open their business outlets in Lakki city and other towns of the district. The shower is beneficial for Rabi crops as the wheat and gram crops sown on a large area in sandy parts of the district were in dire need of rains”, said Minhajud Din, a reprehensive of farmers’ organisation. He said that the recent rain spell would be helpful in eliminating crops diseases and enable the growers to get good crops. “The rainfall will also help to boost/enhance wheat and gram production”, he maintained. The rains also exposed the tall claims of local authorities of municipal committee regarding keeping the city clean and beautiful. Rainwater accumulated on roads and in the streets turning them into pools and causing inconvenience for dwellers of urban locality. People also faced problems as the rainwater inundated streets besides the stench coming out from chocked drains and heaps of garbage caused discomfort for the residents.
