Religious parties observed Friday as protest day against the proposed decision of the government to hand over all nationalised educational institutions of Ahmadis to them and the Lahore Police failure to arrest the killers of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) Punjab ameer Maulana Shamsur Rehman Muavia.
All mosques of Deoband school of thought remained closed and a massive Juma congregation was held at Jamia Mosque Bilal at grain market which was attended by thousands of people.
Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Abdullah Ludhianvi, Maulana Matiur Rehman Abbasi, Maulana Rafiq Anwar, Maulana Mujeebur Rehman, Maulana Mufti Abdul Mueed Asad, Maulana Muhammad Awais, Hafiz Ismail Ihrar, Maulana Lutfullah, Maulana Zulqurnain and Maulana Nasrullah warned that if educational institutions of Ahmadis were returned to them and killers of Maulana Muavia were not arrested, they would launch a massive protest. They urged the government not let the masses lose their patience as the responsibility for any unpleasant would be laid on government. They regretted that the government had failed to ensure peace and protect the life and property of citizens. They also demanded immediate release of all arrested Ulema.
Youth who died in Australia laid to rest: The dead body of a Kamalia-based student who was studying in Australia and had died in road a road accident in Sydney of December 29, arrived here at Kamalia on Friday. Deceased Malik Mohsin Raza was on the way along with his three friends when their car overturned during rain. As a result he and his friend Azhar Iqbal of Karachi died instantly while Gulzar Ahmad of Kamalia and Ajmal Kiani of Rawalpindi sustained serious wounds. Funeralfor Malik Mohsin Raza was offered in central Imambargah at Kamalia.
