Zardari visits Tori Bund to inspect work

KARACHI - President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday visited Tori Bund in Kashmore district to inspect work of repairing the breach during recent floods. The President, accompanied by Chief Minister, Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Irrigation Minister Saifullah Dharejo and Food Minister Nadir Magsi took the aerial view of the Bund from a small aircraft while flying at the low altitude. Irrigation Minister Saifullah Dharejo informed the President that repair work of the bund would be completed in about two months. He directed to speedily complete the repair work and report the progress to him on weekly basis. He also advised that the consultants of the project should be asked to give a briefing on the progress made. Meanwhile, Sindh, Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, who arrived from Dubai on Thursday, met President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House and discussed prevailing political situation. The Governor briefed the President of various issues and the point of view of MQM on prices hike of petroleum prices. According to sources, the President Zardari told the Governor that his party would take the coalition partners along in resolving all the problems confronting the country and the province. He said the country passed through a critical phase and could not afford any confrontationist policies. All the coalition partners should join hands to steer the country out of the prevailing situation.
