PESHAWAR - Strongly denouncing the government decision regarding the slight and insignificant decrease in petroleum products, people belonging to deferent walks of life termed it a mere joke with the poverty-stricken masses of the country.
Talking to TheNation, Inamullah Khan Advocate said that PPP government had looted the masses with both hands as they first increase prices of petroleum products and then slightly decrease to pacify the masses. He said that now the government clearly inviting the wrath of Pakistani masses which will defiantly forces them to come out to roads and oust the corrupt leadership from the country.
He said that the entire policy of the OGRA regarding the fixing of petroleum prices is irrational and through this policy the government want to crush the masses below the heavy burden of inflation and sky rocketing prices.
Amanat Ali Bacha, leader of People’s Youth Wing-Sherpao, during a protest demonstration said that on one hand the country is in the grip of severe energy crisis while on the other hand the rulers are increasing the prices of petroleum products. He said that these tactics are being used to deceive the masses. He also termed the slight decrease of petroleum products of Rs 2 is a joke and said that now they are ‘pouring slat on the wounds’ of the masses.
He maintained that the recent wave of inflation has made the masses mentally disabled and they find no means to protect them against the price spiral. He announced that Pakistan People Party-Sherpao would launch a protest movement from April 7 to condemn the recent hike in petroleum products and force the government to totally reverse the decision.
Similarly, leaders of All Goods transport Truck owners Federation also condemned the decision and announced to start wheel jam strike from April, 10. Addressing the protest gathering in front of Peshawar press club President of the Federation Khawaja Muhammad Mohmand and General Secretary Rajwali Khan said that government has been completely failed to provide relief to the masses.
He said that the recent double increase in both the prices of petrol and CNG have brought devastating impacts over the plight of the poor people. He warned the government to withdraw its decision regarding hike in petroleum products otherwise the transporter are read to take the streets.
Rahatullah, a labourer, who was working at a furniture factory, said that he is much worried about the situation saying that he could not manage his expenses in Rs 150 Per day. He said that like him hundred of other poor families are confronted with pressing economic condition.
A practicing lawyer Arshad Advocate told the Nation that it is astonishing and seems to a mockery with the masses and such kind of injustices with the people of the country would led to a bloody revolution. He said that the prices of petroleum are mush low in the international market while the PPP government increasing these prices as per their own wishes.
