BAHAWALPUR - Punjab Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema directed all the Provincial Secretaries to implement the Punjab CM’s Cholistan development package (CDP) on war footings and pay special attention to quality, transparency and its timely completion.
He was addressing a meeting of the steering committee constituted for the execution of Cholistan development package.
The CS while speaking at the meeting stressed that more work should be done in less time while materialising the Punjab CM’s vision and it should be assessed as which facility was needed the most in Cholistan.
He said that Rs2.5 billion package announced by the CM should be utilized with transparency to ensure social and economic revolution in Cholistan.
He directed to take on board elected local representatives in the completion and monitoring of the development projects.
It was decided in the meeting that project regarding de-silting of 1,100 tobas should be started the next week and all out arrangements should be ensured in this regard. It was also decided that grass and plants should be planted alongside these tobas.
On the demands of local representatives, the CS directed to give preference locals in hiring labourers for the projects. He also directed that the process of agricultural land allotments in Cholistan should be made transparent and marking of boundaries of Chaks in Cholistan should be completed within the next two and half months. He said that extension project for the provision of clean drinking water should be completed within six months while new schemes should also be completed during this time.
It was decided in the meeting that to ensure provision of missing facilities in Cholistani schools within next 2 months and a new Girls High School should be established in Cholistani area near Rahim Yar Khan.
Meanwhile, while addressing people of Cholistan, the CS said that they should keep their livestock farms running and take benefits of the livestock mobile dispensaries to take care of their livestock.
He told that under the CDP provision of water, construction of roads and other projects would be completed.
Earlier, the CS visited different areas including Kala Pahaar, Basti Kher Sar and other adjoining areas and monitored cleaning process of tobas and other water supply pipelines. The chief secretary also visited Government Primary School Kher Sar and Cholistan Community School Jhok Kamil Parhaar 353 HR Fort Abbas where he inspected the education system.
Later, he was briefed by the Cholistan Development Authority MD at Water Point Khatri Dahar.
