KARACHI (APP) Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Thursday that the Federal Investigation Agencys anti-terrorist wing has been shifted to Karachi to conduct proper interrogation of arrested suspects and maintain a complete record with the support of evidences. The anti-terrorist wing has forensic experts and interrogators. We will also establish GIT of criminals so that they cannot get away or get bail. We will make a proper record of these people, the minister said while talking to media after attending a high level meeting at the Crisis Management Cell of the Ministry of Interior. Law enforcement agencies would conduct surveillance of disturbed areas to spot criminals and miscreants in the city, Malik said, adding that we have also called for camera-mounted aircraft to get photos and evidences against criminals. He said that special squads of police and Rangers had been formed to conduct targeted operation against criminals in selected areas based on intelligence information. We are after criminals. We will not spare them and take stern action indiscriminately against criminal elements, he vowed. The minister thanked the people of Karachi for supporting the government and providing real time information about miscreants and criminal elements through text messages to police and Rangers. These young people were ready to talk and give proofs about criminals and their activities. I salute them for their bravery. Malik also hailed the efforts of the provincial government, police and Rangers, saying their joint efforts had brought the killing spree to a halt since last night. We are trying to revive Karachis life, he said, and recalled, I did my post-graduation from Karachi and I know that Karachiites used to spend nights outside and enjoy till 2 to 3am on the streets.
