Doctor, prayer leader shot dead in Balochistan

QUETTA - Three people, including a doctor and a prayer leader, were killed in separate firing incidents in different towns of Balochistan on Saturday.
According to police, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on Maulvi Abdul Haleem in Killi Kark area of Mastung. As a result, the prayer leader sustained critical wounds and died before reaching a hospital.
The assailants fled from the scene after committing the crime. Police moved the body to District Headquarters Hospital Mastung for autopsy and later handed it over to the heirs for burial. However, the motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
In another incident, unidentified men shot dead a doctor in tehsil Jaho of District Awaran. Dr Sabir Ali was killed by armed men riding a motorbike in Waja Bagh in Jaho.
The deceased belonged to Karachi and was serving in tehsil Jaho for some time. No group has claimed responsibility for the killing of the doctor till filing of the report. However, local administration suspected the murder could be a case of target killing. The murder came after abduction of two doctors.
In another incident, armed men opened fire on a private container in Wadh area of Khuzdar which was heading towards Karachi from Quetta. Resultantly, the driver of the container identified as Muhammad Zakira died on the spot after receiving serious bullet wounds.
The armed men fled from the scene after committing the crime. The deceased belonged to Chaman.
Local administration has registered a case and started investigation into the incident.
