Fake shootout: SHO, six others booked for killings

NANKANA SAHIB - A case has been registered against a station house officer and six others for killing two persons in a fake police shootout, sources said.
Six armed men opened fire under the alleged patronage of SHO Hassan Butt and killed two innocent persons over an old enmity. The accused had made a plan to kill them in a fake police encounter.
As per case details, Sajjad Anwar, Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Faisal, Falik Sher and other family members, resident of Chak 29 Dehar, near Sangla Hill were working at their field. Meanwhile, the SHO Khan Ka Dogran along with other police personnel in plainclothes and the victims' rivals including Ijaz Ahmed, Fawad Ahmed, Mubashir, Jawad Ahmed and Imran started indiscriminate firing on them.
As a result, Sajjad and Faisal died on the spot. Later, the SHO sent a message through police wireless network that they were in danger while fighting with some criminals and some of its members were seriously injured and in critical condition or died. Over this message, special force from district Sheikhupra and Nankana Sahib was sent to handle the situation.
After realizing the situation, DPO Nankana Syed Ashfaq Anwar decided to go to the site. It was difficult to differentiate between the victims and the policemen as they were in plainclothes during crossfire. SHO Hassan Butt while saving his life ran away from the spot along with two family members of the victims whereas other policemen were in the field. These policemen informed their colleagues that they were policemen. The DPO ordered them on phone calls to come outside the fields and show and prove their identity.  The sources alleged that the accused had given the SHO a car worth 1.9 million to arrange the fake encounter to kill their rivals. Taking notice, the DPO ordered registration of murder case against SHO and other six persons.
