QAU holds crafts exhibition

ISLAMABAD The Department of History, Quaid-i-Azam University organized arts and crafts exhibition with an aim to provide platform to the students to exhibit their talents and regional cultures. The exhibition was jointly organized by the students and the faculty of the Department of History. Vice Chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai inaugurated the exhibition and appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty. Students displayed almost 600 items of their artwork in four different categories including personal art and creativity, regional crafts, collections and display of talent. The purpose of the initiative was to educate the students to cherish and celebrate diversity instead of intolerance that leads to violence The exhibition is a huge success since it has achieved the desired aim of creating a sense of unity said Fouzia Farooq a faculty member of the department. The participation of the students was overwhelming good that brought not only items representing culture of all provinces but the novel pieces of art created by them. Different regional stalls were allocated to the students from each region where they stood and explained their arts and crafts to the visitors. There were also live performances of Rubab, Sattar, Tabla and Balochi Chapp (musical instrument) by the students, which were appreciated by all. The response from the students and faculty of other departments of the Quaid-i-Azam University was enormous. The students from other universities of twin cities also visited the exhibition. The exhibition was a successful attempt to reflect the soft image of Pakistan and to promote regional harmony.
