Drive to vaccinate 552,802 against polio

BAHAWALPUR - Under the anti-polio drive starting on February 11, 552,802 children under the five years of age would be administered drops in Bahawalpur district disclosed the district administration.
The DCO said that negligence would not be tolerated and whoever found committing negligence would be dealt with sternly. "Polio teams should work honestly and with patriotism. Polio mobile teams will be monitored by third parties so that all the work could be done appropriately," he said. He directed the health officials to ensure administration of drops to all the children and not a single child be left unvaccinated. He said that provision of vaccination to the children less than 5-year children coming from other areas must also be ensured.
He said that parents who do not get their children vaccinated must be made aware of the dangers of polio. He directed assistant commissioners, EDO and district health officer to check the micro plan formulated for the elimination of polio at tehsil level.
He also reviewed the arrangements made against measles. He directed the officials to vaccinate the children with measles in Bahawalpur area. He further directed to complete the computerised registration of children within 2 days positively.
