Laptops, Ujala programmes useful investment for future

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI – The key of future of Pakistan is in the hands of youth and the amount of billions of rupees spent on laptops and Ujala Programme is not expenses but it is useful investment on the youth.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed these views while addressing a ceremony of distribution of laptops among talented students at Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad, on Monday.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government started the programmes for empowering youth while those raising slogans for them were visiting abroad. ‘Had dacoities of billions of rupees were not committed in Pakistan, every student would have been got laptop today. And a war will be waged through Ujala Programme against the darkness spread by Zardari’.
More than 7,000 laptops were distributed among intelligent students of colleges and universities of Rawalpindi division and federally administered area of Islamabad.
A smartly turned out contingent of police presented guard of honor to the talented students. Advisors Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Members National Assembly Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Hanif Abbasi, heads of educational institution, teachers and a large number of students were present on the occasion.  Sharif said the sons and daughters of the nation are equal to him and he feels pleasure on their success. ‘Wherever laptops have been distributed in educational institutions in the province, the girls have taken lead over boys but in Islamabad the situation was different’.
He said if anyone proves even a penny of corruption in the programme started for the social development and promotion of education in Punjab, he would be accountable before Almighty Allah and the people.
The distribution of laptops is continuing purely on the basis of merit, ability and hard work and this programme is being followed in a most transparent manner.
The chief minister pointed out that he has no quota or discretionary power in the programme of distribution of laptops and he has no authority to give even one laptop to any student.
‘About 8,500 laptops have been distributed among the students of colleges and universities of Rawalpindi division and Islamabad including the laptops distributed at Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi today.
Last year the students of colleges and universities of Islamabad were not included in the programme of distribution of laptops but this year these students have also been given laptops’.
He was of the view that today the country is facing numerous problems and not the democracy but those operating the system are responsible. He reiterated that the country would be rid of all problems under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.
The chief minister said that the mega projects and development programmes executed by Punjab government of PML-N are unprecedented.
‘Dictators and democratic governments have disappointed the people during last 65 years and it is high time that the Pakistani nation and youth should elect such a leadership through the power of vote which had the ability of putting the country on the road to progress and prosperity’.
