Media urged to work for social reforms, national unity

LAHORE-Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has urged the national media to play its role in reforming the society and promoting national unity and harmony.
Addressing the officer bearers of the JI central media cell at Mansoora, he said numerous social evils had crept in the society and it was the duty of the media to highlight these in order to wipe them out.
The meeting was attended by JI deputy chief Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, acting JI Secretary General Hafiz Sajid Anwar, Information Secretary Ameerul Azeem, M. Anwar Niazi, Qaiser Sharif and Shamsud Din Amjad.
The JI Ameer said that that the government in the country had been violating the laws and merit with impunity as had resulted in lawlessness and unrest in the society.
The media should use its power for the establishment of the rule of law and recognition of merit in order to evolve a peaceful society based on justice and equity. He also urged the media to try to minimize differences of sects and factions in order to create an atmosphere of national harmony.
The JI chief noted that the west had started an onslaught on the Muslim world through the media. Millions of Muslims were massacred in Iraq and Afghanistan on the false propaganda of the presence of WMDs in Iraq and the Muslims hand behind the 9/11 tragedy which were never proved.
