BU student still missing despite lapse of 8 months

QUETTA - Chakar Marri, a student of University of Balochistan (UoB), could not be released yet despite lapse of eight months while government seems to be totally indifferent to the appeals of the family. This was stated by Mir Changaiz Khan Marri, the elder brother of Chakar Marri during a press conference here on Friday. He said that the rulers who were making tall claims of democracy, liberty and independent judiciary were least concerned about the fate of thousands of Baloch missing persons including Chakar Marri. He said the only crime of his brother along with some other students was the demand from the then VC of the varsity Masoom Yaseenzai for resuming the academic activities in UoB. He said the University was closed for three months last year without any justification. He alleged that his brother was picked up by personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) who did not return home to date after lapse of 8 months. Constitution of Pakistan guarantees every individual the right of peaceful protest, he said, adding that the protest of his brother was not a crime at all. Responding to a question, he said that Chief Justice Iftakhar Muhammad Chaudhry had taken notice of missing persons during Musharraf regime and added that after his restoration no any big progress had been made for recovery of missing persons. He demanded of the United Nations, International Court of Justice and other international humanitarian organisations to take notice of the missing persons from Balochistan.
