Economic growth inevitable for political stability: PTI

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said the economic growth cannot be achieved without political stability in the country adding that his party is the only political force, which can make the looters of the national money to cough it out. Addressing leaders of the business community of Islamabad at a reception hosted by Ch Muhammad Asghar, a renowned industrialist, here, he stated that the political stability could never be brought to the country unless the US intervention was removed. "Delinking Pakistan from the so-called war on terror is a prerequisite to achieve political stability," he maintained. He asked as to why the proponents of the idea of friends of Pakistan did not transfer their 'ill-gotten' money stacked by them in foreign banks to Pakistan. The PTI chairman said his party was the only political force in the country, which could make the looters of the national money to bring it out. He said they would create a conducive environment for investment to abolish the danger level of the unemployment in the country. Gas shortage and electric load shedding have badly affected the industrial sector but no long term planning to deal with this menace was seen despite lapse of three year of the present government, he lamented. He observed that the rental power station further aggravated the situation for both the industrial and residential consumers. Earlier, Ch Asgher formally joined PTI along with his friends from the business community and expressed full confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan. The PTI, in a statement while presenting its reaction on Libyan situation, said there were reports that US might liberate Libya and its forces were ready to impose a no-fly zone and a blockade before the physically enter Libya. The Muslims in Libya would be able to liberate themselves and any outside forces would be viewed with a lot of suspicion throughout the Muslim world and would not be welcomed, the PTI statement said. The action being contemplated by US, UK and France to impose a no-fly zone and to actively interfere in the democratic movement for freedom in Libya is travesty of international norms and an extension of the imperial practice to impose its own solutions like 'regime change,' which was carried out in Iraq and has resulted in the loss of millions of lives. These changes, and uprisings throughout the Middle East is a stark reminder that change comes from within and not imposed from outside, where imperialism comes with its own agenda of occupation of resources and wealth of nations. PTI further said the crisis in Libya should be resolved by peaceful means and through the legitimate struggle of the people, which should not provide an excuse for external interference. The statement said the Government of Pakistan should also play its role in OIC and in the United Nations that the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Libya should be respected.
