ANP activist among 7 killed in Karachi

KARACHI - Seven people including an activist of ANP were killed in separate incidents and road mishaps in the provincial metropolis here on Tuesday. In the first incident, an activist of the Awami National Party (ANP) was gunned down in a target-killing incident on Jamia Millia Road in Malir in the remit of Al-Falah Police. According to the police officials, the victim namely Jehangir Shah, 26, son of Shah Naseeb was attacked by two armed men in front of his house at Anum Homes in the wee hours of Tuesday. The culprits reached the spot on separate motorcycles and shot five bullets at him and fled away, the police added. The police said that the victim was immediately rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was area activist of ANP and he had also affiliated with the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) before joining the organization, they added. A Pakhtun by cast and hailing from Peshawar the victim was unmarried man and jobless, the police said. After the incident unidentified persons gathered on Jamia Millia Road and, surrounded the whole area and resorted to aerial firing. While a heavy contingent of police and rangers reached the spot to bring the situation under control. No case was registered till filing of the report as heirs of the victim were busy in burial rituals. In the second incident, a man was stabbed to death in Musharraf Colony on Hawksbay Road in the Maripur Police precincts. SHO Imtiaz Jutt said that the police found a body, wrapped in a gunny bag from bushes near Musharraf Colony after locals informed the police about its presence. The police found some hole in the upper torso and hands of the body which suggested that the victim was killed by gunshots but after the autopsy, it was learnt that the victim was stabbed to death, the SHO added. The officer said the victim seemed to be a Baloch National of middle age, wearing just Shalwar, adding that he was not the resident of area where the incident occurred and it seemed that unidentified suspects after killing him had thrown the body in the deserted place. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained, however, the body was moved to Edhi morgue after autopsy at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). No case was registered till filing of this story. Meanwhile, a mentally-challenged former employee of Pakistan Navy committed suicide by shooting himself in Adam Town in the limits of Mehmoodabad Police. SHO Nasir Mehmood said that the victim identified as Dilshad Masih son of Ilyas, a resident of house no 570, Lane no 26 in Adam Town committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed pistol. The victim was a psychological patient and admitted to PNS Shafa hospital for treatment, while he got married one year before and just four day ago he becomes a father of a child, the SHO added. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities were the victim family took his body without any legal formalities. In another incident in the limits of Aziz Bhatti Police, a dead body was found from shanty Nagar area. According to the police officials, the victim Abid Ali son of Wazir Ali was died due to over dose of drugs, adding that he was the resident of same area and was jobless. The Police shifted his body to JPMC from where the victim family took his body without any legal formalities. In another incident, a middle aged man was crushed to death at Korangi in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area Police. According to the police officials, the victim identified as Zain was the resident of Korangi No 2. A speeding Dumper hit him and ran away while he was going to his office. Resultantly, Zain was died on the spot, the police added. The police took the body to JPMC and later handed over his family after autopsy. In another road mishap, a young man was crushed to death near 4-K roundabout in the limits of Sarjani Police. According to the police officials, the victim identified as Abdul Wahid, 25, son of Abdul Raheem was the resident of Khuda Ki Basti Sarjani. An over speeding vehicle hit him when he was going to home. The police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later handed over his family after autopsy. Similarly, a 65-year-old man was crushed to death near Aziz Bhatti Park in the limits of Aziz Bhatti Police. The police officials said that the victim identified as Abdul Qayyum was a resident of the same locality. An unidentified vehicle hit him and ran away, from where the victims family took his body to home. No case was registered till filing of this report.
