PESHAWAR - The Awami National Party (ANP)’s organizing committee on Friday expelled senior leader Senator Azam Khan Hoti from the party for leveling allegations and using inappropriate language against the party’s top leadership including Asfandyar Wali Khan.
The basic party membership of Azam Khan Hoti has been revoked, by the party’s provincial organizing committee, headed by Bashir Khan Matta, says a press statement issued here from Bacha Khan Markaz, the central office of the party.
It said that Azam Hoti has been expelled form the party for violating the party discipline and adopting unacceptable attitude towards party’s high command. On Friday last, the organizing committee of the party had served a show cause notice on Azam Hoti to explain his position within seven days.
“Failing to comply with the show cause notice within a week, “Hoti is expelled from the party,” the statement explained.
Bashir Khan Matta said Hoti’s failure to justify his actions meant his membership now stood cancelled.
His press conference, a few days back, was a reply in response to the show cause notice and it was a constant violation of the party’s code of conduct on the basis of which he is no more part of our party, he explained. Spokesperson for Azam Hoti, Farhad Ali while talking to media, said that they were expecting Hoti’s expulsion and would chalk out a further line of action in a couple of days. He added that senior Hoti would make some revelations and that would be shared with the media soon.
The controversy emerged in the party last month when Hoti had issued a statement wherein he had held the party leadership responsible for the defeat in May 11 general elections and also leveled allegations against the party’s top leadership.
