Peshawar - Comparing terrorism with a cricket match, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Ihsan Ghani said that performance of police against terrorist is like a long inning of test match in which sometime they hit a six and sometime lose a wicket.
Talking to the media, Ihsan Ghani said that relationship between the Taliban and police as one between a batsman and a bowler. He said that sometime Police overpower them while sometime we loose a precious wicket. He said that it is not a 20-20 match but a long test match and would be continued. He said the KPK police are ready for long war against terrorism in the province.
According to the IG, work is underway to combat the threats receiving by police. He said that Dera Ismail Khan Jail break-up was a major incident and they would try their level best not to repeat similar mistakes in future.
The IGP had already suspended SP Elite Force Tauheed and DSP Elite Force Behram Khan and 25 other members of the force for their incompetence during the militants attack on D.I.Khan jail.
He said that more suspensions and transfers of officials are expected in the provincial prisons department. Meanwhile, Ihsan Ghani has directed police high-ups to take effective measures for prevention of aerial firing on the occasion of “Chand Raat” and Eid-ul-Fiter festival.
These directives were issued to all DIGs and DPOs through out the province in a special circular released from CPO on Monday. In the circular, the IGP reminded that our religion teaches us peace, brotherhood and tranquility whereas aerial firing is an un-Islamic and illegal act.
It has further been informed in the circular that indiscriminate aerial firing not only pose serious threat to precious human lives but also creates fear and panic amongst the peaceful citizen and directed the police high-ups to adopt concrete measures and put an effective halt to the menace of aerial firing.
They were reminded in the circular that protection of life, honour and property was the prime responsibility of police force and they should play their due professional role for prevention of aerial firing on “Chand Raat” and Eid-ul-Fitr.
They have also been directed to launch vigorous campaign against aerial firing and hold meetings with local elders and social organisations and sensitise the people about the negative impact of aerial firing.
It has been warned in the circular that if any complaint received about a single aerial firing from any part of the province the concerned SDPOs and SHOs would be strictly taken to task.
