RAWALPINDI - The first round of All Pakistan Universities Debate was held at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on Thursday.
The contest comprised of two separate tracks of speeches in English and Urdu. The theme of the debate was 'Fikr-e-Iqbal aur Aj ka Naujawan.' The chief guest of the ceremony was Prof Dr Naheed Zia Khan, Dean Faculty of Law Commerce, Management and Administrative Sciences.
The jury members included Farina Iqbal, In-charge BCA Department and Akifa Imtaiz, Assistant Professor Department of English, for English declamation. Dr Safia Ibad, lecturer Urdu Department, and Salman Haider, lecturer Gender Studies, were the judges for Urdu declamation. The programme started with the recitation from the verses of the Holy Quran. The participating students spoke very well while their supporters cheered for them throughout the event. First prize holder of the English debate was Naima Bintaey Shahab, student of Defence and Diplomatic Studies.
Sara Noor from English department got second prize whereas the third prize was won by Aman Shafqat student of Behavioral Sciences Department. Sadia Begum from economics department won the first position for Urdu declamation and Aisha Sajjid and Maria Afzal got second and third position respectively.
Prof Dr Naheed Zia Khan distributed the shields among the winners and appreciated their efforts.
