RAHIM YAR KHAN - District Bar Association President Malik Sajid Ali Feroz and Secretary General Syed Mohammad Bahu Shah have requested the Lahore High Court chief justice to grant permission for tour of the Consumer Court Bahawalpur and Special Judge Banking to Rahim Yar Khan City.
Bahu Shah wrote to the chief justice that Rahim Yar Khan was the most populous district of Bahawalpur division. “It is one of the leading districts in Punjab in agriculture fields. The district has a unique role and contributes a lot to the agriculture sector. The district is comprised of four sub-divisions and at each sub-division, there is a hardworking bar of lawyers. Bahawalpur is about 200 kilometers from Rahim Yar Khan city, 225 kilometers from Sadiqabad, 165 kilometers from Khanpur and about 100 kilometers from Liaqutpur. From here, a large number of lawyers use to go to Bahawalpur to attend the high court bench in Bahawalpur. Majority of banking cases heard in Bahawalpur belongs to Rahim Yar Khan. Similarly, the people of Rahim Yar Khan are deprived of the unity of Consumer Court, being situated in Bahawalpur at a far distance.” He said, “To facilitate the people and lawyers of Rahim Yar Khan, and deliver justice at their doorstep, it would be expedient if the request is granted graciously”.
