SC issues notice to Dewan Petroleum in OGRA corruption case

ISLAMABAD- The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued notices today to Zia Farooqi, the owner of Dewan Petroleum, in the case of the former chairman OGRA Tauqir Sadiq.

The court issued a notice against the stay order of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) which ended the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) investigation of the eleven accused in the Tauqir Sadiq case.  The court has adjourned the hearing of this case until Friday and the OGRA implementation case till March 10, 2014.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja resumed the hearing of the OGRA implementation case. Prosecutor NAB, General K.K Agha, informed the court that NAB had stopped investigations against the eleven accused after the IHC issued a stay order on the plea of Zia Farooqi. He added that NAB couldn’t further investigate the case until the abandonment of the stay order. The court then issued notices to Dewan Petroleum.
