Islamabad- Former chairman of Employees Old Age Benefit Institute (EOBI) Zafar Gondal, prime accused in EOBI land sale scam has disappeared instead of appearing before the Lahore High Court (LHC) Multan bench for confirmation of his bail.
He had obtained one month protection bail from high court and he was to appear before the court after month in connection with confirmation of his bail but he preferred to disappear.
Islam Ghani director FIA Islamabad has confirmed the reports of disappearance of Zafar Gondal. Campaign has been launched for his arrest, he added. His house at Islamabad has been raided and raids will be conducted at his ancestral city Mandi Baha ud Din and other areas, he stated.
Former chairman of EOBI is charged with causing loss of Rs 44 billion to EOBI through fake deals of land. He is alleged to have purchased land beyond market rate in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi and violated investment rules of EOBI. EOBI hoard had opposed these land deals but Zafar Gondal did not pay heed.
