MULTAN - The Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University Multan has started functioning as Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice Chancellor Dr Kh Alqama inaugurated its classes here on Monday. Initially the classes will take place at Mango Research Institute.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that with the establishment of Agriculture University a longstanding dream of the residents of Multan came true. He added that the credit went to the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said that education played the role of backbone in any society as it made any society civilized. He said that the Punjab Government was determined to make Punjab the most literate province of the country and establishment of Danish Schools, medical colleges and universities was the proof of this fact. He hoped that the degree holders of this university would play key role in the development of the country.
Speaking on this occasion, MNA Rana Mahmoodul Hassan said that the CM had special focus on education as he announced two varsities in his last visit and made them functional within few months. He said that those claiming to bring change were raising mere slogans while Punjab Government proved its words practically. MNA Tariq Rasheed said that the foundation of an educational revolution was laid in this region. He stressed upon the students to show distinction in their respective fields and bring laurels to their country.
The function was also addressed by the Commissioner Multan division Muhammad Khurram Agha, MPA Abdul Waheed Arrain and others.
Earlier, briefing the participants, the officials of the varsity told that initially 129 students were given admission out of which 89 were male and 40 female. He added that state of the art labs were set up for the varsity while field officers of the agriculture department were taken into the faculty.
BZU DECLARES RESULTS: The Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan has announced the result of MA English Part-1 & 11 (Old Course-Annual System) Annual Examination, 2011 here on Monday. According to the result notification, a total of 490 candidates appeared in the examination out of which 262 were declared successful while 228 failed. Thus the overall success ratio in this examination stood at 53.47 per cent.
