PESHAWAR - Provincial Police Chief Akbar Khan Hoti has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have offered more sacrifices in the war against terror.
“This is one of the best force which I am commanding,” remarked the police chief while giving briefing on law and order and policing in the province to a 31-member of 97th Course of National Management College, Lahore, at Police Club Peshawar on Friday.
He informed that Khyber Pakhtunikhwa police as a frontline force successfully fought this war and in the process offered huge sacrifices due to which law and order situation has improved to a large extent. The police chief further went on to say that no force on the earth could win against crime without public support and cooperation.
The IGP briefed the delegation in detail with the help of charts and slides. They were informed about the law and order, militancy, suicide attacks, initiatives taken by the police, changing patterns of terrorism, weak areas, confronting challenges and way forward.
They were told that 600 police officers and jawans got martyred and 1400 were injured in war against terror in 168 suicide attacks and other incidents of terrorism from 2006 to September 2012. They were also informed about the changing patterns of terrorism ie shift from suicide to Improvise Explosive Devices (IEDs) and informed that so far 528 IEDs were successfully detonated by the police during a short span of time.
Likewise, effective steps had been taken against kidnappings for ransom, which were the main source of income of terrorists.
While elaborating the way forward, the police chief informed that the police were trying its level best and crime figure in the province was low as compared to other province of the country.
The police chief said that implementation of police order is being ensured, investigation is being improved and steps are being taken to improve image of police amongst the public. The members of the delegation highly appreciated the excellent performance and bravery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police against terrorists on the face of unlimited problems and limited resources.
