Hazaras want SC to take notice of killings

QUETTA - The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) and the Hazara Students Organisation (HSO) rallied outside the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Wednesday to protest against the killing of the Hazara community members.
The protesters, including women and children, were carrying banners, making an appeal to the Supreme Court to take notice of the killings. They chanted slogans against the government for its failure in curbing target killing that claimed hundreds of lives of people from Hazara community.
Addressing the protesters, Hazara Students Organisation President Nargis Aghai said more than 800 people of their community had fell prey to sectarian violence, the worst type of brutality inflicted upon them.
“The sectarian killing went unabated in the province but the government has been playing the role of a silent spectator since it has not adopted adequate measures to guard its people,” she added. She regretted they had been making a litany of complaints to the authorities concerned but to no avail.
She pointed to foreign hand in sectarian violence, saying: “Some foreign elements wanted to turn the province into a sectarian hotbed under the patronage of the government.” She said they gathered outside the court to make an appeal for justice.
