QUETTA - Speakers at a seminar regretted that corruption is the biggest issue of the country as Rs 12 billion corruption is being made on daily basis in the country. “Pakistan is ranking 34 in the most corrupt countries in the world,” they added.
Addressing the seminar at Quetta Press Club on Thursday, MPA and National Party leader Yasmeen Lehri, Quetta Press Club President Razaur Rehman and others said that according to Transparency International Pakistan had faced loss $ 94 billion during past 4 years in corruption and tax theft. “If corruption in such a large scale was not made the country would have been able to pay the loans and would have been financially emancipated,” they added.
Speakers said that unfortunately corruption, mismanagement, embezzlement and waste of national wealth was in full swing in the country due to which the issues of the people were not being addressed.
Quoting NAB chairman, they said that a corruption of Rs 12 billion was made in the country which was equal $40 billion annually. “Pakistan, Kenya, Nepal, Azerbaijan and some other countries are standing at the front row of corrupt countries and if the looted money was invested in education, health and other social sectors then the most of issues of the people would have been resolved,” they maintained. They stressed that accountability is mandatory to get away with it.
