Aitzaz doubtful about success of peace dialogues with TTP

LAHORE- Senior leader of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and leader of the opposition in Senate, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has expressed doubts over the success of peace dialogues with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Talking to journalists today, Aitzaz alleged that TTP support to the peace talks was aimed at fulfilling their designs, seeking concessions and not sincere in restoration of peace. He said Taliban militants are proceeding in the talks to achieve their goals which will make it difficult for the government to continue with the dialogues process and subsequently there were remote chances that the talks will bear fruitful results.

The PPP senator said that government has announced to release the non-combatant Taliban prisoners and the other side in response to the
government's goodwill gesture should also release the innocent people, including sons of former PM Yousuf Raza Gilani and Late Salman Taseer, in return from their custody.

He blamed the ruling party of mass scale rigging in elections in National Assembly constituency NA-124, Lahore and said that scrutinizing process into the allegations to be completed in two weeks will expose the manipulation and 'transparency' in the polls.
