AJK Power Dept gears up to recover Rs860 million

The AJK Electricity Department Mirpur Division has formed mobile recovery teams to recover arrears of over Rs860 million from defaulters across Mirpur city division, official sources revealed.
The arrears of the electricity bills include Rs600 million against government departments, Rs160 million against domestic consumers and Rs100 million against the commercial consumers in the division, said Tahir Ratayal, Executive Engineer, AJK Electricity Department, City Division while talking to this correspondent.   He said that 15 mobile recovery teams headed by Sub Engineer in-charge of the areas concerned had been constituted for the recovery of the arrears.
Meanwhile, in the first leg of the drive, stringent action will be taken against hundreds of power consumers who owe Rs50,000 each to the department in the head of monthly bill.
When contacted, official sources told this scribe that the competent authorities had ordered all the Sub Divisional officers to initiate indiscriminate action against hundreds of power consumers for recovery of the amount they had defaulted on.
The sources revealed that the power supply to dozens of defaulters would be disconnected if they failed to pay the outstanding dues within the given time. The defaulters include domestic, commercial / industrial and government departments.
On the other hand, the Electricity Department has directed the power consumers including the defaulters to immediately pay their outstanding arrears in the stipulated time to avert any unpleasant situation at the hands of the mobile recovery teams.
“We believe in serving the consumers with best possible services on reciprocal basis to enable the AJK Electricity Department to ensure uninterrupted power supply”, said a senior officer of the Electricity Operation Division Mirpur.
