LAKKI MARWAT - Six shopkeepers were arrested on the charges of violating official price list here on Sunday.
The arrests were made when Additional Assistant Commissioner Pir Muhammad Mehsud along with policemen paid visits to several bazaars in the urban locality. Residents of the locality had complained to the local administration that traders were involved in artificial price hike and overcharging consumers. The additional assistant commissioner ordered arresting six shopkeepers when he caught them red-handed fleecing the consumers. At several outlets the official price list was not available upon which the traders were fined.
Meanwhile, a team headed by Additional AC Pir Muhammad Mehsud foiled a bid to transport ice blocks to Punjab from Lakki city. The district administration had banned transportation of ice blocks outside the district before the commencement of Ramazan to ensure availability of the commodity in the fasting month.
On receiving information the additional AC along with police party intercepted a small truck loaded with ice blocks near Saeedkhel Mor on Lakki-Mianwali Road. The ice blocks were reportedly being transported to Punjab in violation of the ban imposed by the administration.
Police arrested three men in the raid. Separate cases were registered against the violators under relevant section of law in Lakki police station.
