IHC moved to restrict Dr AQs movement

ISLAMABAD (APP) - A plea was moved in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday seeking restrictions on free movement of renowned nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. Petitioner Colonel Muhammad Faheem, the Chief Security Coordinator to Dr. AQ Khan, submitted a plea regarding the implementation of IHC order of February 6, 2009. A single bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman will take up the issue on Tuesday (today). He raised serious objections to frequent travel and meetings of Dr. Khan and feared that it could put him in awkward position and cause risk to his life. He said: 'the security situation in the country is extremely serious. The Raymond Davis episode has shown that there are covert foreign operators inside Pakistan and given Dr Khans profile, one cannot rule out that he would be a focus of their attention. The petition further said: 'Dr AQ Khan has also carried out some unauthorised communication which is being assessed and the same is in violation of specific court orders whereby the court had directed him not to communicate on sensitive matters. In the petition the Security Chief of Dr. Khan also pointed out that 'in a period from January 1, 2001, 312 visitors were facilitated to meet him despite the fact that security officers had reservations about some of visitors due to security reasons, he added.
