The lawyers fraternity continued protest and strike for fourth consecutive day on Thursday against the bomb and gun attack on courts in Islamabad.
According to details, in Mailsi, the Tehsil Bar Association observed strike and boycotted of courts proceedings against the attack which claimed the lives of 12 persons including lawyers and an additional district and sessions judge.
Led by its President Qamar Abbas Hashmi, the lawyers took a rally and denounced the worst terrorism in the country. Addressing the protesting lawyers, he announced a weeklong strike to mourn the incident. The lawyers condemned the incident and demanded the government to provide fool proof security to bench and bar in country.
Similarly, in Sahiwal, the District Bar Association observed a complete strike to condemn terrorist attack on Islamabad courts and passed resolutions to denounce the incident.
The black coats stayed away from the court proceedings and wore black armbands to expressed solidarity with bereaved families.
Showing solidarity with lawyers of Islamabad, they took out a rally wherein the participants were holding placards with slogans condemning terrorism and terrorists.
Addressing the participants, DBA President Raja Javed Mehmood said that the country was grappling with the menace of terrorism and Islamabad incident had exposed the government’s security arrangements. He said the rulers were spending billions of rupees from national exchequer on their security but the judges and lawyers had been left at the mercy of terrorists. He called upon the government to award compensation each to the deceased’s families while each to injured person.
The DBA President said that lawyers should forge unity in their ranks to weed out anti country elements. Punjab Bar Council member Iftikhar Khawar also spoke on the occasion.
In Hafizabad, the funeral in absentia was offered for the victims of Islamabad Courts attack at District Judicial Complex which was attended among others by District and Sessions Judge Mushtaq Ahmad Tarar and all other judges, District Bar Association President Ch Abid Fayyaz Tarar and General Secretary Malik Nazakat Ali Phularwan.
Quran Khawni for the victims were also offered by the lawyers in the Bar Room. The lawyers, who boycotted the courts for the fourth consecutive day, expressed their heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families and called upon the government to take stringent measures to prevent recurrence of such brazen terrorist attacks.
Due to consecutive 4th day strike by the lawyers, the litigants faced a lot of hardships and inconvenience. They called upon the lawyers to desist from such prolonged strikes.
Meanwhile, in Kamoke, members of Tehsil Bar Association observed strike on the call of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) against the Islamabad court suicide attack.
They condemned the terrorist attack and expressed strong resentment against the brutal action. Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Malik Ghulam Mustafa, Hafiz Insar, Amjad and others said that the government had failed to protect the citizens. They called for enhancing security at courts to prevent such attacks in future.
