IHC adjourns hearing of petition against formation of SC in treason case for indefinite period

ISLAMABAD- Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned the hearing of the petition against formation of the Special Court (SC) for an indefinite period today in the high treason case against the former President Pervez Musharraf. The single bench of IHC comprised of Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan.

The petitioner, Sohail Hamid, pleaded that the constitution of the SC against Pervez Musharraf is unconstitutional and in derogation of the article 3 in the constitution. The petitioner argued that the formation of the SC is unconstitutional under the 1974 act. He added that the court should stop the proceedings.

Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan remarked that “the high court has already given a decision on the constitution of the SC and therefore the time of the court should not be wasted further.
