AHMEDPUR EAST - Lahore High Court’s Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan has asked the young lawyers to put in more energy and time and get themselves’ prepared for their future role as judges.
He was addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of the construction of 150 new chambers on Tehsil Courts premises here the other day.
Additional District & Sessions Judge Haider Amir Chughtai, Khanewal Civil judges - Mrs Sarwat Batool, Muhammad Skakeel Ashraf and local seven civil judges headed by Khursheed Anjum besides more than 300 lawyers were present on the occasion.
Justice Sardar Shamim said that the LHC Chief Justice was keen to elevate judges belong to South Punjab but was faced with some problems. He directed the judges of lower judiciary to take bold decision and utilise their judicial powers while granting bails. He also expressed his concern that majority of verdicts pronounced by civil judges were changed by session courts and high court. He underlined the need of more competency, saying that civil courts verdicts should not be set aside by superior judiciary which would make them credible. He stated that honest judges were asset to judiciary hence no one would dare to touch them in the provision of justice. He asked lawyers to pay due regard to judges and said that the bar and bench cooperation was vital for speedy justice.
Commenting on the demands of Tehsil President Bar Association, Justice Sardar Shamim assured that he would take up the issue of establishment of judicial complex at canal rest house with the LHC Chief Justice after Eidul Azha while the demand for hearing of Nadra cases at Ahmedpur East would be met.
Earlier, Tehsil Bar Association President Nazar Hussein Aslam presented welcome address and highlighted the problems confronted by local lawyers.
He announced setting up of eight members lawyers committee which would supervise the scrutiny process for the allotment of chambers to young lawyers through a balloting.
He presented a letter of appreciation to Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan and lifetime honorary of membership of Tehsil Bar Association. While Justice Sardar Shamim gave letter of appreciation on the behalf of Ahmedpur East Bar Association to Civil judge Khanewal Mrs Sarwat Batool.
