GILGIT - All the prisoners in the District Jail Astore escaped alongwith weapons of the jail officials after a strong protest inside the jail that led to injury to one jail warden on Tuesday.
Police said that out of six police personnel deployed on the security of Astore Jail, four policemen went to fetch water while prisoners started protest inside the jail and overpowered the two police personnel stationed on duty of the jail security.
All the prisoners after overpowering the two police personnel escaped from Astore Jail alongwith weapons of the police personnel.
On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Astore, security of the all the entry and exit points was beefed up to nab the fleeing prisoners.
It is pertinent to mention here that nine other prisoners had fled from the Diamir and Astore prisons after which security of all the police stations and prisons was tightened.
