Army not PM House guardian, says Shujaat

LAHORE - PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that it is the Pak Army not the PM House which is the guardian of national frontiers; however the rulers wanted the institution to defend their personal interests.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at his residence here on Thursday. He said that a civilian martial law has been imposed in Lahore, and Shahbaz Sharif should avoid making Model Town as Jallianwala Town. He claimed about 300 to 400 cases should be registered against the CM if the law really takes its course. He said the army needed only two trucks and one jeep to take over the power.
When asked whether he would welcome the army if it takeover the power, he said that answer to this question would be given when such a situation arises.
PML-Q chief insisted, “The sitting government will not be in power by the end of this month. The current setup will not be in its place on August 31.” He further said, “It is an irony the sycophants call the army boss as field marshal when he is in power and he gets the name of dictator when steps down.”
He predicted that former army chief and president, Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf would leave the country soon. He said that though the army never took the reins of power by choice, while current situation was conducive for a military takeover.
Shujaat said that Yaum-e-Shuhda on August 10 would be held for the martyrs of Zarb-e-Azb operation and Model Town tragedy. He warned the government to refrain from using force against the PML-Q and PAT workers on August 10; otherwise their Inquilab March might have to go to Islamabad via Jaati Umrah.
