Shaikh Badin Hill Station needs attention

LAKKI MARWAT - Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf MNA Col (Retd) Ameerullah Marwat has asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to provide funds for the development and uplift of Shaikh Badin Hill Station.
Talking to The Nation on Thursday, he said that he had written a letter to the chief minister, requesting to take concrete measures for turning Shaikh Badin Hilltop into a tourist destination. “Being the only tourist spot in the southern districts, the government should pay heed to develop it so as to make it attractive for tourists,” he maintained.
Situated at the height of 5,000 feet above sea level, he said, the Shaikh Badin Hill Station had been an attractive tourist place in the pre-partition era as British rulers and civil and military officers would use it as staying place during summer.
The lawmaker further said that the government should provide funds for improvement of existing infrastructure, building few kilometres road and provision of drinking water at the hill station.
Ameerullah said that the development of Shaikh Badin Hill Station would promote tourism in the southern region and would also boost economic activities in Lakki Marwat, Tank, Bannu, Karak, Hangu and Kohat districts. “With the revival of hill station as tourist resort the residents of southern district and its adjacent tribal agencies and people from other parts of the country will come to Lakki Marwat district to spend their holidays and hottest summer season,” he added.
