PTI, Q-League share common viewpoint: Shah Mehmood Qureshi

LAHORE-Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi Tuesday said his party has no intention to derail democracy and it will only adopt a peaceful and Constitutional course to expand its struggle.

Talking to media persons after his meeting with Chaudhry brothers here, he said PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Q share a share a common viewpoint. “PTI and Chaudhry brothers are on one page on many points,” he added.

Qureshi said the meeting was fruitful in which various vital points were agreed upon, however he did not elaborate it. He reiterated that general elections of 2013 were not fair and transparent.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said rather than derailing democracy, PTI wants to strengthen it.

He said the PTI were left with no other option but to go to the people after failure of the concerned forums to address its grievances over election rigging.

Earlier, Shah Mehmood Qureshi held a meeting with Chaudhry Brothers and discussed his party’s Long March planed on Aug 14.

According to sources, Qureshi, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of the PML-Q discussed overall political scenario in the meeting held at the residence of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

Chaudhary Shujaat said his party would not allow democracy to be derailed. He hailed the meeting as constructive. The meeting discussed overall political situation and agreed to find a democratic way out for all existing problems.

Chaudhary brothers also decided to hold a meeting with PTI chief Imran Khan.

Sources said the political leaders also exchanged views over Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri’s ‘revolution’ as well as PTI’s Aug 14 rally in Islamabad which is to be held as per the announced schedule.
