CHAKWAL - At least nine people, including three women and four children, died and eight others got injured in two road accidents here on Saturday.
In the first incident, five members of a same family died when a speeding trailer hit their car at Bhatti Gojar area on motorway. As a result all the five died on the spot. Police said that the trailer hit the car after brakes failure.
The deceased were identified as Muhammad Asif Munir, his wife Ghulam Sughra and their children Muhammad Talha Hussain, Marya Umaima and Musa Zarghab. The family belonged to Taxila and was going to Sargodha, police said.
In the second incident, four persons, including two women and a child, burnt alive when their van collided with a car at Chakwal-Talagang Road near village Dharabi. Fire engulfed the Chakwal-bound van after the collision.
The names of deceased could not be ascertained till filing of this report, while the injured included Muhammad Khan, Shahbaz Hussain, Abdullah Aziz, Nasir Mehmood, M Aslam, Noor Khan, M Javed and M Jameel. They were immediately shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Talagang.
Police registered separate cases and started investigations into the incidents.
