SC asks Foreign Ministry to bring back Tauqir

ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Thursday issued directives to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take steps to bring back former Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Tauqir Sadiq from UAE and submit report by March 11th. A two-judge bench of Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain resumed the hearing of Tauqir Sadiq arrest case.
During the course of proceedings, Khawaja Haris, amicus curie, informed the court that Foreign Office has to be involved in the matter because UAE government is of the view that Tauqir Sadiq would be handed over to Pakistani government through diplomatic channel. Assisting the court over the matter, Khawaja Haris further said that Pakistan is the requesting State in the instant matter but the concerned authorities are not aware what kind of documents should be produced to the foreign country for ensuring Sadiq returns from UAE.  Justice Jawwad S Khawaja observed that the bench wanted to understand the procedure under what Tauqir Sadiq could be brought back to country stating he was escorted to flee abroad.
