Govt urged to declare Lakki village calamity-hit

LAKKI MARWAT - Office bearers of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf have demanded of the provincial government to declare rain-hit villages of the district as calamity-hit areas and compensate the farmers.
Talking to reporters on Friday, PTI's District General Secretary Ahmad Nawaz and Joint Secretary Imranullah said that the recent spell of heavy rains coupled with hailstorm damaged wheat and gram crops in several rural localities of the district.
They said that natural calamity badly affected Kherukhel, Paharkhel, Jabukhel and Titterkhel villages where the growers lost their year long labour to the torrential rains and hailstorm.
"The farmers of the rural localities are poor as they grow wheat or gram crop once in a year," they maintained. They told that low, untimely and excessive rains and hailstorms spoiled the labour and hard work of farmers subjecting them to face financial and food problems for the whole year.
They called upon MNA Col (Retd) Ameerullah Marwat and MPA Zarin Zia to use their influence and get declare the affected villages as calamity hit by the provincial government. They also demanded of the government to compensate the losses of local farmers and provide them with sufficient financial assistance.
