LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed has said that there is no room for corrupt cops and stren action would be taken against the officials found involved in malpractice.
According to a police spokesman, Lahore CCPO stated this while presiding over a meeting held at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh to review the crimes and law and order situation in the Cantonment police division. DIG (Operation) Muhammad Tahir Rai, DIG (investigation) Zulifqar Hameed, SSP (operation) and SSP (investigation) were also present on this occasion besides others.
The city police chief also admonished several policemen after reviewing their performance with regard to crime control strategies. The CCPO warned the policemen that those officials who failed to provide protection to the lives and property of citizens have no right to stay on their posts.
Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed also made it clear that there would be zero-tolerance for illegal detentions and torture on the accused persons and the policemen found involved in this practice would be given exemplary punishment.
The CCPO also ordered the police to intensify armed patrolling in the city to downgrade incidents of street crimes. The police were also directed to utilize scientific techniques to track down the criminals involved in heinous crimes.
On this occasion, the CCPO admonished in-charge investigation Baghbanpura, in-charge investigation South cantonment, in-charge investigation Defense-B, and SHOs of the Harbanspura, Sarwar Road, Ghaziabad and Manawan police station and directed them to improve their performance within a month or they would be taken to task. –Our Staff Reporter
