Gilani warns govt of public wrath

Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that if the government failed to correct its policies in light with the aspirations of the masses, it would have to face public wrath.
Talking to journalists here in Sunday night, he said that the prime minster is authorised to appoint army chief and no one should raise any objection over the authority. He added that the process of retirement of existing army chief and appointment of a new one began six months in advance. “Therefore General Kayani’s statement regarding his retirement is nothing amazing,” he added. He explained that he gave extension to Gen Kayani during his regime because army was in state of war while the latter was a pro-democracy person and he proved it through his actions.
Commenting on a statement given by a spokesperson of PML-N regarding Gen Kayani’s retirement, he said that it was an inappropriate statement. He said that the masses expressed strong reaction on recent storm of price hike.
RS7B RELEASED FOR MSWC: The Punjab government has released a grant of Rs7 billion for the Multan Solid Waste Management Company (MSWMC) under its vision of Saaf Suthra (neat and clean) Punjab while the district government handed over the sanitation charge to the Company here on Saturday.
The company has launched a sanitation project under which the city will be made clean through the use of modern technology.
MSWMC Chairman Rai Mansab said that initially the Punjab government had handed over sanitation responsibility of six towns of the province to the company and the residents of these cities would feel a pleasant change in the cleanliness condition of their areas. He added that the citizens would not only see model cleanliness arrangements on Eid but also could call sanitation staff within 10 minutes through a phone call.
LITERACY RATE: DCO Nausheen Jamshed has claimed that the literacy rate in Multan has risen to 62 per cent from 52.
Addressing the participants of a function here on Saturday, she added that although the statistics were encouraging, yet we needed to do a lot to improve literacy rate. She told the participants that education stood at the top of the Punjab government’s priority and a plan was devised to recruit new educators to boost literacy rate and end unemployment.
