LHC dismisses petition seeking disqualification of PM

LAHORE- Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed the petition seeking disqualification of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif declaring it non maintainable.

The two members bench of  LHC comprising Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan and Justice Faisal Zaman today declared the petition non maintainable and dismissed it ruling  assembly matters cannot be challenged in the court, therefore, the respective forum be resorted to.

In the intra court appeal filed by Tehreek-e- Insaf Lawyers Forum, the plea was taken PM lied before the nation on the floor of the assembly on the matter of mediation by army; therefore, he remained no more Sadiq and Amin. ISI also refuted PM and interior minister statements on the issue of mediation, petitioner pleaded. Therefore, PM be declared disqualified, petitioner prayed.
