PML-Q files reply on petitions against sit-ins

ISLAMABAD- PML-Q has filed its reply in Supreme Court (SC) with reference to petitions against  Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-ina in Islamabad.

The reply said that it was a political matter and SC was not entitled to review it. Sit-ins are seen in the perspective of political situation of the country and not in the backdrop of fundamental rights, reply added.

The reply further said that it is essential to review the constitutional status of the sitting assembly in the wake of polls rigging. The killings in Lahore are also one of the causes leading to these sit-ins, reply added. The court is requested to reject the petitions against the dharnas, reply stated.

The reply further said “interpreting the law and constitution is domain of SC. Fundamental rights of anybody are not affected by sit-ins because waging political struggle is itself a legal and constitutional right which cannot be encroached upon”.
